| Havasu Falls, Colorado The Havasupai people that live near-by, took their name from Havasu Falls (Ha vasu'a baaja means "people of the blue-green water"). Upstream a few miles, the Grand Canyon sends a powerful torrent of crystalline blue-green water down the ravine from one of its most powerful streams. The calcium carbonate that gives the creek its color makes it undrinkable, so the people draw their water from other springs. My sister Linda works in oils. |
