| House Across the Lake is reminiscent of the many fine views available to even the casual observer in Ireland. Painted in March of 2002, on a cold rainy day, while thinking how much my father would have loved to travel in Ireland with me.
Music: Londonderry Air (Older Version of Danny Boy) |
House Across the LakeAcross the Lake, was my father’s placeHe lived his life there, with dignity and grace He loved to row out on the lake and fish Always hoping to make the “big one” his supper’s dish He slept peacefully in the gentle rocking of the boat The lake worked he said “ like a castle’s moat” It kept people away whom he didn’t want to see If I didn’t disturb his “fishing” he said, he’d take me When I see the house across the lake, I am reminded of those times Obviously I can’t do justice to the memories and feelings, with these simple rhymes |
